We had the driving range to ourselves, so we made ourselves at home. We spread out a blanket for Joony to sit on, David started hitting some balls, and I wandered around clicking away on my camera. Perfection.

I mentioned the other day that our little family went out to the golf course together recently. The course we went to is right here in our teeny-tiny town and was just as cute as can be. We pulled into the drive and saw a man (I'm assuming one of the owners) on his riding lawn mower. When we stopped to ask where we could pay for a bucket of balls to hit, he told us to just leave some cash in the drop box. We realized that we didn't have any cash on us, and he said, "Well, will you be back to golf again soon? Just pay me twice then! You guys have fun out there!" Adorable. I hope we always live in a small town.

really super

10 Things That Make Me Really Super Happy:
1. My suuuper casual new summer uniform. I don't know how outfit blogging is going to keep happening with this routine.
2. Sidewalk chalk art by my two cute little neighbor girls.
3. Mom dates at the nature park with a stroll, a picnic, and two happy babies. Amazing way to spend a Wednesday afternoon.
4. Open windows, open doors, ceiling fans spinning.
5. Watching The Voice with David. We eat special treats (strawberries and whipped cream! popcorn! ice cream!) and make farting noises when our least favorite artists come on.
6. A huge tub of strawberries sliced, washed, chilled, and ready for snacking.
7. T.Swizzle on the season finale of New Girl. Love her.
8. How smiley and giddy David is before and after he takes his dirt bike out to the track. There is nothing better than seeing someone you love do something that they love.
9. Finding Joony awake and happy after a long nap, standing up and chattering away in his room while he waits for me to come get him.
10. The Arrested Development trailer. It had to be said, I am so freaking excited.
*Bonus #11: How easy it was to think of 10 happy things in my life right now!

you ready?
I had the grumpiest day ever yesterday. I kept grumping at David, and then I would get super apologetic and be like, "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry, this is a terrible way to spend your day off, can we start over and I'll be nicer?" He would agree, and then 15 minutes later I'd snap something rude at him.
The day before yesterday, David got home from work and Joony was fussing in his room, trying to tell me he didn't need a nap (he needed a nap). When Dave asked, "How can I help? What should I do?" I spat out, "Drop kick him across the room, I just don't care at this point!" And then an immediate, "Ohmygosh I did not mean that, I'm so sorry, it's been such a long day!"
All that to say, my moods are on the fritz. Joony's made the shift from being a nursing-every-couple-hours baby to a nurse-at-bedtime-and-once-or-twice-during-the-day boy. I think the change has been playing tricks on my brain--maybe I don't feel as needed? Maybe I miss the extra cuddle time every day? Whatever it is, I'm fighting this daily battle with the part of my brain that wants me to be a cheerful, rational person and the part that wants to throw a temper tantrum and pout and eat 6 Fat Boy ice cream sandwiches.
Last night was exactly the calm I needed after the emotional start to my week. We went to the (empty) driving range, Joony laughed while David hit golf balls, the weather was gorgeous, and we came home to watch The Voice (a day late on Hulu), have some sparkling red grape juice, and goof off. Aah. Ready once again to tackle life!

heartbeat runnin away
Weekend:
- I spent the whole weekend in mom clothes. By that I mean this:
Hat, tee, cut offs, slip-ons. Nothing to write home about, but so so comfortable.
- I lit a candle in our bedroom on Saturday morning. David doesn't usually like smelly stuff, so I thought letting it burn while he was at work would leave a nice, faint aroma instead of a strong one by the time he got home. Since Joony was napping, I hopped in the shower. A few minutes later, the fire alarms started blaring. I leaped out of the shower, covered in soap and conditioner, slid on the tile floor, slammed into the doorway, blew out the candle (which I had lit right under the alarm...idiot), and fanned the alarm with a towel until it turned off, leaving me panting and gasping for air. It was all very dramatic. Joony slept through the whole thing.
- Homemade granola, my new favorite thing.
- A picnic in the park for my neighbor friend's 5th birthday! There was sunshine, birds chirping, children laughing, cheesy pizza. The good stuff.
- I read this article (titled "Why I'm Glad Someone Told Me To Stop Breastfeeding in Public") and it impressed me big time. Go girl. Does your state have laws protecting breastfeeding moms? Idaho, sadly, does not...which means I have some letter writing to do.
- Mother's Day, of course! David got me a sweatshirt, fancy chapstick, a cute little bag for my Kindle, and best of all...a love note + homemade sloppy joes. AND we got cake pops at church. Joony got me toothy grins, sleeping in, and stating, "Mom-ma-mom-ma," in a very matter-of-fact way. I loved it. He also shared his soggy graham crackers, which was actually very touching to me. What else does a 1 year old have to give? Those crackers are his very favorite thing and he shared them with me. The sweetest little heart.
- GATSBY. Judging from all the Insta pictures of movie tickets, you all saw it too, right? I loved it. La-la-la-LOVED it. It was beautiful and followed the book wonderfully and OMGLEO and the music? Oooh.

truth be told
Truth be told...
- I baked an entire Funfetti cake for no reason other than my own gluttony.
- I don't feel like blogging lately. I go through phases like this--I'll be full of post ideas and (kind of) hilarious things to say, and then I'll cycle into staring at a blinking cursor night after night thinking, "No one gives a crap about any of the things running through my mind right now."
- I found dried graham cracker in Joony's ear while I was nursing him to sleep tonight. Mother of the year. And speaking of my parenting...he beelined for the open refrigerator the other day and came away with these as his prizes:
Nice.
- I have mastered getting up early for a morning run, but haven't yet adjusted my bed time routine. I am feeling exhausted all. the. time. Snap out of it, Haynes!
